at least that gives us another year to make recommendations to improve the pool.
my suggestion.: make it 11 ft deep or tighten the trannies to 9 ft (10 ft deep with 9.5 trtannies is lame because of only .5 ft of vert) |

| 10 ½ ft tall with 1 ft vert is perfect. If you go 11ft you need 1 ½ ft of vert. 9 ½ ft transitions feel perfect. |

I'll let you slide Eric because you actually hit the coping and go over sometimes, but most people hardly get to the top of the general... especially the Kickturn Krew.
There was a kid at the GreenCastle, IN park complaining about the skatepark being too small, etc. How the bowl was too small, blah blah. Jim "funkmaster" asks the kid, "since this park is so small I imagine you're blasting four foot airs out of the bowl all the time, eh?" Kid goes "Uh, no" Then Jim says, "Well, I guess the park isn't too small after all." It shut the kid up.
Moral of the story... pool as planned will be enough for the great majority of us. And if you're so gnarly, then go ahead and blast big and we'll all cheer. |

Why not 10' transitions and three feet of vert?
Sounds great, but 11 ft with 1.5 ft vert is cool.
You build stuff that will allow you to progress, not let you stagnate. Think about how much everyone has progressed since the opening of CWC. |

Got to go with a bigger transition than CWC's deep end...it's just too tight to feel relaxed and comfortable on late grab airs over the coping; therefore, you gotta make it deeper than the General.
I say 11.5 ft deep (10 ft transitions and 1.5 ft of vert...That's the exact same dimensions as Athens, GA deep end and it felt perfect to me!) I think the shallow end should be 7 ft with 7.5 ft transitions.
my 2 cents |

| Just think Jeff, you can do a kickturn higher without hitting the coping. |

| I am going to bring the Gloom and Doom about the Franklin skate park. I can see the first phase (street) area getting done!! Then Question ? the second phase POOL! You know we built them a park that should be good enough! But the good is that sitedesign is doing the work. Hope that i am wrong! |

I think the first phase is the street course and the pool. The second phase is the flow bowl.
Kinda of backwards I think to do the pool in the first phase. From my informal observations the order of most use at CWC is flow street, flow bowl and then pool.
What might happen is that they see that not many people use the pool so they say, "why build a flow bowl"? People who like to ride flow features are totally left out of the Franklin park.
By building to accomodate the least number of skaters maybe they will just say that since so few people use the park they should just close it. |

| I'll be at Franklin riding that pool every day if they do it right with big transitions. |

| SiteDesign is just designing it. They don't even have their own crew. They hire out other builders like Wally or Grindline. |

| Yeah, I know. Maybe they'll hire Wally and he'll sneak a little flow in there somewhere. |

Since I'm doing the Spring Hill thing, I spoke with Brad (from Site Design) the other day about Franklin.
He said they are (like Spring Hill will be doing) and sending out the park to bid in two parts. In Franklin's case this means they have separated the bids into skate plaza and pool. If the budget allows, they will get both. If it does not, they will get the plaza, and get the pool next year.
In Spring Hill's case, we will have the flowbowl and street area as one bid, and the pool as the secondary bid. If we can't get the pool this year, it will be next.
Either way, the cities are developing and paying for the designs now, so that betters their chance to happen in the future.
Like Admin said, they won't be doing the actual construction. That is why they will be sent out for bid. Cities sometimes do it this way to get more competitive prices and keep all aspects of the development fair. |
