| Don't know if you guys heard, but the Knoxville skatepark have been postponed till at least next summer. I would rather not get into why here on the fourm, but you can read the whole story at www.knoxvilleskatepark.com Needless to say, I am bummed, and will be spending some more time skating Nash and Lousiville, my backyard, and snowboarding this winter, until we get some concrete in this town. |

| You know I'm bummed. I say we take matters into our own hands and build our own dern bowl. I'm tired of waiting for the city to do something for us. I have some digging tools, a welder, and a huge truck. We just need to round up some strong backs and a few funds and we can build our own bowl. It's not rocket science. Want pool coping? I think I know where we can get a mold to pour our own pool coping. What do you say, jcab? Do you want it in your backyard? |

| Put it down there off the interstate by Papermill where that gnar ditch was, it would be sweet to have something to skate down there again. Nothing down there anymore but orange cones and traffic and office space. Get somebody looks like David Lee Roth skates like Lee White to hang around down there all the time and somehow always have cigarettes to sell, out of a Hello Kitty backpack, "his sister's," that stinks like his old Rectors inside. He'd be trying to install a new curb he'd lifted from somewhere. He'd want me to help. I'd struggle and get it installed and sweat but then when it was done skate it and learn ollie blunts for the first time and do them over and over laughing and clowning until at last I slipped - something went wrong - and slammed grinding my elbow in the 'crete. I'd have to sit down for a while and have one of those cigarettes and watch as David Lee Roth/Lee White did the most stylish layback grinds anyone's ever seen on that curb, and there was only me there to watch, and remember. I'd be all bleeding but feel good when it was time to go. I learned blunts. I met this guy who looked like David Lee Roth and skated like Lee White and had cigarettes to sell and was installing this curb when I walked up ... |

| Good news my friend, it can happen. I recently scoped Wallos on my way back to town, and its there. Rebuilt. There was dirt on the walls of one side because workmen were laying turn on the sides of the hill over it. I'm sure the Knoxville crew will fix it up shortly. And, I could've sworn I saw some shaggy haired dude with a rose colored backpack nearby scoping the workmen's progress... |

Well shit.
I guess I started skating again for nothing.
I'm going to Nashville this Sunday for the early AM old guy session. |

Rettaylor,
Man, it's good to see another Knoxville skater join the forum, and especially an old timer getting started again. You didn't start again for nothing. I mean it is frustrating being a skater in this town, but there are a few of us here that make the best out of what we have, plus we do a lot of driving. It's been a little dry for me lately because I have two good friends that I was skating with all the time. One moved to California because the surf was just too flat for him here in Tennessee. The other one has been down with a broken ankle for a few weeks, but he'll be back stronger than ever real soon.
While we wait on the park, we have a few backyard ramps in the area, a few fun ditches, and millions hills if you're into longboarding. So we'll get you dialed in here in Knoxville and see to it that you get a proper "Welcome Back".
Oh, and I'll see you in Nashville Sunday. I'll be there for the Team Geritol Sunrise Service. I'll wear my "Support the Knoxville Skatepark" t-shrit so you can't miss me. |

We could put it in mine! The neighbors wouldn't mind at all! |

| Well, not about the shaggy-haired dude with backpack. I don't think the ditch is as long as it used to be; I remember it being more curved back in the day, whereas now I think it's shorter and straight? |

I skated Wallos today - gave the boss a line of shite about a dental appointment!
The wide / curved / hipped section is indeed gone, but the rest is as good as ever. Needs a weed-eating, some roll-ins, and some curbs / metal pipe and I see it being as great again- just different! |

Let me get my shovel and I'll be right over.
Ret, let's get a work session going at Wallos real soon. I might be able to come up with some steel pipe. I'm busy tomorrow, but let me know when you have time and we'll fix it up.
I stopped and looked at Wallos a couple weeks ago, but I didn't have my board with me so I just looked. It did look really skatable. I wonder if that BP sign would provide enough light to skate at night. I love to skate when it's cool. |
