Their Grand Opening will be sometime in the Spring. Ramps and Amps is located on West Broad Street in the Old Wilson Building (near the train depot). Their phone number is (931) 537-RAMP (7267). The park features a 4' mini ramp (24' wide), a 8' halfpipe (20' wide), a 4' spine (8' wide), a 4' quarter pipe (24' wide), and two 6' bank ramps. A street course is "in the works." There is also a skateshop inside that is run by JJ Johnson. Artists from around the world were asked to create a work of art on a blank skateboard deck. These decks will be auctioned off March 18 at Sapphire on Gay Street in Knoxville, TN. This auction was organized to bring awareness to, and raise funds for the Knoxville Skatepark. The park will be located in Tyson Park and (more than likely) designed and built by Wally Hollyday. There are around 40 artists involved. Some include: Dalek, Gary Baseman, Kathie Olivas, Amada Visell, 20mg, and many others. Several can be seen at the chocolate shores website. Despite Team Pain claiming the M3d guys suck, they are doing concrete work that would rival any skatepark out there. But , there is always a catch. I've been helping them for the past two weeks. Almost had the snake run bowl complete, when the engineer and architect , and their vast knowledge of skateboarding say we have to tear out the twinky with a slight taco. This simple feature would have made this bowl completely unique and fun as hell. They are now tring to say that there needs to be expansion joints and coping flush with the concrete. This was turning out to be what would be the best skatepark in the state, now over selous engineers and architects are tring to pull an ego trip just to spite skatepark builders for not asking their opinion.
